“Packhorse show extreme professionalism, helpfulness and friendliness while always going that extra mile to ensure luggage is transferred from B&B to B&B efficiently, effectively and safely. We’re delighted that we can work with and rely on Packhorse to provide the service that we need, and we have no hesitation in recommending them.” Hillwalk Tours

“Thank you Packhorse for making our c2c challenge worry free. You booked us some Fantastic accommodations along the route. Luggage all arrived safely every day. It was an amazing walk and we met some truly inspirational people from all nationalities who are now our friends.” Linda Bowden

“Thanks Packhorse for organising a perfect trip and arranging so many great places to stay.” Nick and Chris

“Priceless Packhorse – My third time of walking the coast to coast, twelve and six years previously including east to west six years ago and using Packhorse on all three occasions.
We were not disappointed, the accommodation chosen was great, good variety all of excellent standard with personal touch. Luggage arrives as if by magic. We were visited at Kirbybstephen by the owner of packhorse who has taken over from Lyndsay and Simon this year. This was a real nice touch as he wanted to meet you in person and check red any issues. Would I walk the coast to coast again, oh yes and I would definitely use Packhorse. The only company to specialise just on the coast to coast and they certainly have got it right. I would recommend doing it west to east as the comradeship is something that will live with you for the rest of your life, nothing quite lives up to it. For foreign walkers I would definitely plan in rest days to take in the extra attractions, I would include Grasmere, Richmaond and Grosmont (take the steam train in to Whitby and sample the Abbey and kippers).”

“Mark, Jemma and Rachael and the drivers at C2C Packhorse did a really great job of coordinating all aspects of my recent walk across England on the Coast to Coast trail They helped me create an achievable itinerary, made all of the B&B/hotel reservations and hauled my bag from lodging to lodging each night. When one of my lodging rooms was inadvertently flooded, C2C Packhorse stepped in and found me new lodging while I was blissfully walking in the Lake District out of cell phone range. And, when the owners of the only pub in town went on holiday, C2C Packhorse arranged for the B&B owner to cook me dinner for the night. This is a great company that specializes in just the Coast to Coast walk and does a superb job! All of the walkers I visited with also had great things to say about C2C Packhorse. And, the B&B owners say that Packhorse is the best company they deal with!” FredJonze

Coast to Coast Packhorse Image“Enjoy English country life, scenic views, historic villages and route finding as you walk coast to coast. We chose Packhorse to book our accommodations and to transfer our luggage from place to place. Packhorse selected a diverse range of lodgings from traditional country manor houses, to friendly B & B’s, to quaint pubs to an elegant boutique hotel. 30 years ago we would have carried our backpacks and camped. I felt no regrets about staying in a dry, cozy room each night, especially when downpours occurred as we snuggled in our comfy beds after hot showers and delicious meals. All the lodgings had wi-fi. Jean Norris, the owner of Ashfield House in Danby Wiske, prepared the most delicious dinner. The Lancrigg Vegetarian Country House Hotel featured the most mouth watering breakfasts. Keld Lodge offered the friendliest service – a well equipped drying room for drenched boots and clothing, local ales on tap and dinner in 1st floor restaurant. The Manse B & B in Reeth served a beautiful breakfast in the most elegant dining room. We recommend Packhorse without reservation. For navigation along the route we relied on the detailed maps and narrative in Henry Stedman’s guide book, “Coast to Coast Path.”

“Coast to Coast Packhorse did a stunning job! This was a most enjoyable walk over 14 days at the end of July. C2C Packhorse tailored it to our requirements, arranging excellent overnight accommodation and faultlessly moving our overnight bags from one place to the next. This allowed the four of us to concentrate of the walking, carrying only relatively light day bags. The walk takes you through varied and sometimes spectacular scenery. It’s quite remarkable that a walk of this length in a crowded island can be so ‘rural’. Our group varied in age from mid-teens to mid-60s and, on reflection, we think we could have done it in 13 rather than 14 days without trouble. However, this is a walk to savour rather than race, thus allowing time to admire the scenery and meet, and walk along with, other walkers from time to time. It’s surprising how many we met who were doing it the 2nd, 3rd or 4th time. Clearly addictive!”

“Dear Mark, Jemma and Rachael,
Thank you so much for the most wonderful walk that was so wonderful because of your organizational skills in booking my accommodation and the faultless baggage service. I had the best time and you made the adventure so easy because I was able to focus on walking (or not walking when you kindly gave me a lift a couple of times). I have wanted to do this walk for 16 years and was not disappointed and will cherish the experience forever.” Maxine Baban

“On behalf of my group (Benson Group) I would like to thank you for making our trip fantastic. Having our bags transported to the next B & B was great and very efficient. All our accommodations’ were great and the ‘hosts’ all very receptive, helpful and obliging.” John Benson

“We finished up Monday, on schedule. Thanks for all of your assistance. We really had a great experience and everything ran very smoothly. We will definitely recommend you to others..” Bill Raver & Sandy Mitchell

“I would like to thank you and all of your team for the excellent walk from St Bees to K.S. that I’ve just completed. Chris was great taking just me to St Bees with lots of useful tips and arrived early. The B&B’s were all fantastic even picking me up from another place when I went wrong. That was Jim from Primrose Cottage who was an absolute star. It was a challenge against a strong headwind for the whole week and finding my way on my own, but at least it stayed dry and the scenery was spectacular. I loved it and will certainly use you when I do the other half.” Lin Chandler

“Our walk is over, sadly, but I wanted to thank you for your organisation leading to a superb trip. Great route & b&b’s leading to meeting some fascinating people. I will certainly recommend your company to friends who want the c2c challenge: only problem is you couldn’t dial up last weeks’ superb weather again – fantastic!” Peter Morrison-Wells

“Everything about the C2C Packhorse service, from initial contact right through to being safely delivered back to our car in Kirkby Stephen, was professional, friendly and efficient. This is a company with a real passion for what they do and everyone that we came into contact with has a mission to make your C2C experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible. If you are considering taking on something as big as the Coast to Coast, then look no further for your support company – Packhorse are the real deal” Ed Gibson

“I have completed the walk twice, using Packhorse both times. One of the main highs is the friendliness of everyone you meet, fellow walkers from many parts of the walk, the B&Bs, the local pubs, everyone. A real pleasure to make the walk.” Graham Bayes

“There were way too many standout moments! I’d do this trip again, except that I want to see more country. Can you recommend another similar walk in the UK? Similarly outfitted like you did for us, roughly similar in length? I’d be very grateful! Thanks again for all your hard work on our behalf back in April and May!” Jeff Shelden

“Dear Mark and All of You on the Packhorse Team, we completed our C2C walk in late September this year. We had an awesome walk—had a bit of everything the C2C could throw at us, but managed the challenge and enjoyed the experience immensely. We would like to send along a huge thank you to all of you at Packhorse for your services. Everything was superb– from the timely replies to our several emails we sent during our planning days, to the booking process, to the wonderful accommodations, to the daily luggage transfers. We will highly recommend Packhorse to anyone making inquiries about the C2C. Thanks again.” Charlotte and Peter Vriends

Coast to Coast Packhorse Image“Thanks for your excellent service – once again! My son, Ben and I, walked from KS to RHB in September and here are our top tips: Parts of the route were astonishingly wet and boggy and we found carrying spare socks in our day bags a real boon; The route isn’t always clear – the Cleveland Way sections being the exception – so we found the app outdoorsgps invaluable. That and a decent paper map as back up meant rarely put a foot wrong apart from in all that sodden, boggy stuff that is. Thanks once again – and especially to your driver who got us back from RHB in the minibus in fine style. Top man! Good luck for your future plans.” David and Ben

“Your note reminded me that I never sent a thank you for facilitating a truly marvelous trip. My now college freshman daughter, Schyler, and I walked coast to coast in late july and early august this past summer. The country was stunning—remote, rugged and beautiful, the people we met—other coast to coasters, locals out for a good stretch of the legs, B&B hosts and guests, pub operators and local denizens—were extremely gracious and stupendously interesting, the food was great, the ales-availed only at days end—were refreshing and restorative. We had challenges every day, challenges of terrain, weather, navigation and pain. We never had challenges of logistics—planned and executed flawlessly by Packhorse!! Thank you for your counsel in planning our trip—suggesting a couple of layover days was incredibly helpful–booking us in great places, and schlepping our stuff. Not going to bore you with all the details , but we stayed in “wainwrights room” in the Oldwater View, Patterdale, shared scones with Ms Brunskill in Shap, had a truly innovative and delightful dinner in Keld’s Butt House. Spent a supremely relaxing day watching cricket, drinking ale and conversing with locals at the Richmond Cricket Pitch. Only watched tv once, but saw Mo Farah win the 10k yet again in front of delirious home fans. Met a guy running c to c in 4 days. I told him he was crazier than our president. He said, “different kind of crazy,” (which was right on the mark), and bolted on. Thank you for arranging a seminal experience for schyler and me. Am not a religious fellow, but you do the lord’s work and you do it well. any time you want to visit the states you are more than welcome at our houses (in minnesota and Colorado), and am more than happy to consult on don’t miss places to see. Not a travel expert, but have been in all 50 American states. You’ve paid it forward, I am happy to repay ex-post facto. Be good.” HT Fish

“My standout moment was climbing from black sails YH heard someone say ‘ there better be an ice cream van at the top or I’ll be most displeased.” Tim Scott

“Just wanted to say thanks for all that you did for us on our Coast to Coast trip after Gareth heart attack. He’s great now and following our Coast to Coast I had an amazing month’s trip to Tibet. Anyway, thought you’d enjoy the attached bit of writing.” Renee Lyons
