We’re excited to provide all the details you need for a smooth parking experience as you embark on your adventure along Alfred Wainwright’s famous Coast to Coast route.

Directions to the Car Park

From the North (via A66):

  1. Follow the A685 into Kirkby Stephen.
  2. At the mini-roundabout, turn right onto Silver Street (signed to KS Business Park).
  3. Pass by Kirkby Stephen Grammar School, bear slight left at the Grammar School junction, and the Business Park will be on your right.

From M6 Junction 38:

  1. Follow the A685 to Kirkby Stephen.
  2. Drive through the town centre to the mini-roundabout and turn left.
  3. Proceed as above from the Grammar School junction.

Car Park Guidelines

1. Customers departing for St Bees will be received between 7.50am and 8.00am. Customers arriving in Kirkby Stephen earlier are requested not to drive onto site before this time.

2. On arrival, please FOLLOW THE SIGNS up to the car park. There will be Packhorse staff present to welcome and direct you.

3. Customers will be requested to provide, name, booking reference and registration number.

4. Please park as directed, unload your bags and take to them to the minibus, as directed, for loading.

5. When you have finished with your car, please lock it and RETAIN YOUR KEYS.

Please note that there are no toilet facilities available at the car park, therefore please make use of the town public toilets or at your accommodation if staying in the area the night prior.

The public toilets are located at the top left of The Market Square with parking directly outside them.

Customers starting the eastern half of the Coast to Coast from Kirkby Stephen must also arrive between 7.50am and 8.00am, if you need your bags transferring to Keld that same day. Otherwise, you can arrive at any time that the Coast to Coast Packhorse office is open (usually 9am-6pm) – this is also located on the Business Park.

1. Vehicles are locked away in the secure car park for the duration of your trip and you retain your own keys.

2. The car park gate has a keycode. You will be given the current code on arrival so you will be able to access your vehicle when you pass through.

1. Retrieval of cars from KSBP is possible anytime as you will have the key code #

Walkers from Orton/Shap collecting their cars and departing on arrival are reminded not to expect their luggage to arrive at the car park before 4pm unless by special prior arrangement.

2. Coast to Coast Packhorse Minibus Drivers disembarking customers to collect vehicles on return will supervise safe and timely departure of all vehicles from the car park and will close the gates behind them. Customers returning with bikes will disembark outside the gates of the car park and will be requested to bring their cars out the parking to load their bikes and allow timely closure of the car park

There may be occasions (e.g. during certain events) when the gate to the Business Park is locked – if this is the case when you come to retrieve your car please call the office.

Please respect all other businesses and visitors to the Business Park and do not leave your car anywhere else on the Business Park except within the car park

– Please note there are no toilet facilities available at the car park. The nearest public toilets are located at The Market Square, easily accessible with parking available nearby.

– Coast to Coast Packhorse and Kirkby Stephen Business Park will not accept liability for damage or loss to vehicles or contents; parking is entirely at the owner’s risks Here

– Retrieval of your vehicle can happen at any time during the day using your provided keycode.

– Walkers from Orton/Shap should note that luggage is typically expected to arrive at the car park after 4 PM unless specific prior arrangements have been made.
